I’m Matt Adkins, a Finance & Banking student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Computer Information Systems. I am the founder of the Appalachian Investment Club and a passionate, driven finance professional.

Through my experience working full-time in a management position while pursuing my degree full-time and actively participating in various clubs and extracurricular activities, I have developed strong time management skills, resilience, and an unwavering work ethic. Balancing these commitments has taught me the value of determination and the ability to stay focused under pressure.
Appalachian Investment Club was founded with the sole intention of making finance education a more inclusionary learning experience at Appalachian State University. The club is open to all who are interested in pursuit of expanding their knowledge of finance. This is done through educational presentations led by myself and other officers, as well as stock pitches for Investopedia paper-trading portfolios set up by the club for members.
I demonstrate leadership by facilitating and teaching inclusive group exercise through powerlifting methods, fostering a supportive and motivating environment. I also coach individual athletes and competitors in semesterly powerlifting meets at Appalachian State University, helping them reach their full potential. Additionally, I personally compete in powerlifting and placed second in the men’s 98kg weight class at a USAPL meet in January 2024.

As I continue my academic journey and seek professional experience in finance, I aim to leverage my skills in financial modeling, data optimization, and client relationships to contribute to the growth and success of an organization that shares my commitment to innovation and excellence.
One of my favorite activities is hiking.
I fence with Appalachian State Fencing Club in my free time.
I compete with USA powerlifting and coach individual athletes with the Mountain Strong Club.
